A forearm sling is a commonly used upper-limb protective brace in orthopedics and rehabilitation. Its core function is to hold the injured forearm in front of the chest, keeping the elbow flexed at 90 degrees. It reduces weight bearing on the affected limb, relieves pain, promotes blood circulation, and prevents improper traction on the injured area.
It is suitable for scenarios including conservative treatment of clavicle fractures, post-reduction care for shoulder dislocation, mild sprains or fractures of the forearm/wrist, and early rehabilitation after upper-limb surgery. As an auxiliary fixation option besides casts and surgeries, it helps the affected limb smoothly get through the immobilization recovery period.
When worn correctly, the entire arm should be fully placed in the sling pocket. Adjust the straps to keep the wrist slightly higher than the elbow, so that the weight is evenly distributed on the shoulders and back rather than concentrated on the neck. During daily wear, you can move your fingers and wrists at regular intervals to avoid joint stiffness caused by long-term complete inactivity. If your fingers turn purple or feel persistently numb, adjust the tightness immediately or seek medical help.
